Me and greg have a senior project to do for sentinel, and since it was due last month, I figured we should probably get started on it! We were supposed to do a project on viruses & other malware infections, so I did some quick thinking and came up with a half decent idea for presentation, and the best part is that it came out looking better than I expected, which is never a bad thing when you are a procrastinator.
And to ease my carpal tunnel syndrome I am going to get straight to the point… I had just completed the main ‘page’ of the project and everything was going well. I saved it numerous times while I was working on it because I feared for the worse. All was said and done EXCEPT for the ‘compiling’ of the project. So I compiled it and started virtually burning the project because that was the last step. Then the worst thing happened, it would normally be good, but this time it was bad. Since I was ‘playing’ with alot of malware (viruses, trojans, spyware, adware…) I had to temporarily disable my anti-virus or it would kill all the stuff before I could make use of it, so I did that before I started my work… Only problem is I forgot about symantec’s ‘time-out’ period, and since I only disabled it temporarily, it decided to turn itself back on right as I was burning the project, and it started deleting parts to it since it had malware in it!!! Then the burning program I was using complained that the compilation had changed, and asked if I wanted to continue, which I did, so I told it to continue burning anyhow… I know I lost some of the malware that should have been in that copy of it, and I really didn’t want to make another revision to the project, but now I guess I don’t have a chance…
I just wanted to get my project done(more than a month overdue) so I would stop getting harassed by my teacher, but now I actually have to put some effort into it or it won’t be complete… it’s funny how things work out some times.
Lesson Learned: Procrastinators can’t always win… unless you’re gay or live in bizarro world.
